Rylea Black Earns SLIAC Volleyball Defensive Player of the Week
BELLEVILLE, IL -- Freshman Rylea Black was named the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Volleyball Defensive Player of the Week
BELLEVILLE, IL -- Freshman Rylea Black was named the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Volleyball Defensive Player of the Week after helping guide the Blackburn College Volleyball team to two wins during the week.
Black posted a total of five solo blocks, including three in a come from behind 3-2 victory over Harris Stowe State University that saw the Beavers overcome a third set deficit after dropping the first two sets . During the match, she tallied six kills, a dig and a block assist in addition to her three solo blocks. She clinched the match victory by scoring the final point of the night with a block.
She followed it with ten kills, a dig, a solo block, and block assist in Saturday's SLIAC opener at Webster University against Mississippi University for Women. She then tallied 12 kills and three block assists in the team's victory over Webster.
The Beavers will return to action this week by visiting Rose Hulman Institute of Technology Wednesday before returning to Dawes Gymnasium to host Westminster College Saturday on Homecoming.
