Blackburn Competes in Greenville Select Meet
GREENVILLE, IL — After battling through two weeks of stormy weather, the Blackburn College Track & Field team took full advantage of ideal conditions at the Greenville Select Meet on Saturday.
GREENVILLE, IL — After battling through two weeks of stormy weather, the Blackburn College Track & Field team took full advantage of ideal conditions at the Greenville Select Meet on Saturday. The Beavers recorded numerous personal bests, school records, and strong performances across events as the outdoor season gained momentum.
Kobe Patton highlighted the day with personal bests in both the 100m and 200m, continuing his progression this season. Patton also competed in the long jump, contributing to a successful day. Julio Palma joined Patton in the sprint events, posting solid performances of his own.
Jaydon Hausman and Landan Tribble took on the 400m, with Hausman also adding the triple jump to his event list. In the men's triple jump, freshman Byron McNeil reached 41 feet, 0.5 inches, continuing his series of performances in the field.
Blackburn's middle-distance crew delivered a strong showing, with multiple athletes doubling in the 800m and 1500m. Scotty Cuff, Collyn Oberkfell, Sam Burrows, and Ulises Espinoza represented the men's side, while Gracie Jent competed for the women. Collyn Oberkfell led the Beavers in the 800m, while Sam Burrows was the quickest on the team in the 1500m. Cuff, Espinoza, and Jent each earned season bests in both of their races, showing continued development in the endurance group.
The day concluded with a performance in the men's 4x400m relay, with Byron McNeil, Collyn Oberkfell, Jaydon Hausman, and Sam Burrows combining for a strong finish to the meet.
Blackburn's women's throwing squad had a standout day. Michaela Moulton threw in both the shot put and discus, recording a personal best of 69'0.75 inches in the discus to set a new school record. Olivia Hamman also set a new personal best and school record in the shot put with a throw of 23'10. On the men's side, Marco Nova recorded a season best in the shot put.
With strong performances across the board, the Beavers look to carry their momentum into the next phase of the outdoor season. The team will return to competition at the SLIAC Outdoor Championships on April 25–26, hosted by Greenville University.
