LOUISVILLE, KY -- The Blackburn College Softball team took on the top seed, Spalding University, in the first game of the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Semifinals but were unable to pull off the upset as they fell 3-0.
Sophomore Kenadee Frey and Sierra Hiser led the team's offense.
Senior Shelby Koenig threw two strikeouts while pitching the full game.
The Golden Eagles scored a run in the first inning and added another in the third inning. They also scored one in the sixth inning.
Blackburn will return to action Friday at 12 pm Eastern and will take on whoever is defeated between Mississippi University for Women and Greenville College. If Blackburn wins, they will play again at 5:30 pm, but a loss will bring a close to the season.
