CARLINVILLE, IL -- The Blackburn College Men's Soccer team hosted Greenville College in the first St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference matchup of the year and scored late in the match but were unable to capture victory as they fell 2-1.
The Panthers scored a goal in the first half and opened the second half with another to get ahead 2-0 in the 49th minute. In the 81st minute, Blackburn was fouled which gave the Beavers a free kick. Freshman Adrian Castillo put the kick into the box and sophomore Byron McNeil jumped over the defense to head the ball past the Greenville goalkeeper to make it 2-1.
Blackburn managed to get more chances on goal but were unable to find the back of the net and fell 2-1.
The Beavers will return to action Wednesday when they head to Westminster College for another SLIAC matchup.
