Klunk Named SLIAC Men's Soccer Defensive Player of the Week

BELLEVILLE, IL -- Senior Dawson Klunk was named the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Defensive Player of the Week after helping the team to a 1-0 victory over Fontbonne University. 

The senior goalkeeper posted nine saves over two games. The team took on Webster University Wednesday afternoon where Klunk notched four saves. He followed it with five saves in the team's 1-0 win over the Griffins which also featured a save on a Fontbonne penalty kick. 

Klunk allowed just one goal on the week, an own goal from a teammate off a Webster corner kick. 

Men's Soccer is now one point ahead of Westminster College for the final spot in the SLIAC Tournament. The team heads to Greenville College Saturday for another SLIAC matchup before ending the regular season with an important match at Eureka College on Wednesday, October 30.
