DUBUQUE, IA — The Blackburn College men's basketball team traveled to Iowa and came away victorious, defeating Emmaus University 95–63.
Top performers for the Beavers included freshman Evan Jordan and juniors Kamerin Carter and Payton Cook. Jordan finished with 24 points, six steals, and four rebounds, shooting 100 percent from three-point range. Carter added 16 points and went a perfect 6-for-6 from the free-throw line, while Cook contributed 13 points, four assists, and led the team with seven rebounds.
Blackburn delivered a complete performance on both ends of the floor, earning the decisive win behind balanced scoring, relentless defensive pressure, and strong bench contributions.
The Beavers set the tone early, using defensive intensity to force turnovers and convert in transition. Jordan sparked the offense in the opening minutes, knocking down multiple three-pointers and finishing at the rim as Blackburn quickly built momentum. Cook, along with juniors Camden Nelson and Ayson McCluskie, added early perimeter scoring to help stretch the lead to double digits midway through the first half.
Blackburn's defense fueled a dominant run late in the half, highlighted by steals from Jordan and Jaylen Jeter and efficient finishing inside. The Beavers went into the locker room with a commanding 50–29 halftime lead, controlling the glass and the pace of play.
The second half followed a similar script, as Blackburn continued to apply pressure and move the ball effectively. Carter scored at all three levels, while Jordan continued to orchestrate the offense with both scoring and assists. Nelson, Cook, and senior Darius Duff connected from beyond the arc as Blackburn pushed the lead past 30 points.
Blackburn's depth was on full display late, with contributions throughout the lineup. Freshmen Jaylen Jeter and Cooper Carter, junior Kcion Welch, and senior Cayden Paquette provided energy and production off the bench, while junior Cody Marcinko capped the night with a basket as the Beavers closed strong. With balanced scoring, defensive discipline, and strong team play, Blackburn controlled the game from start to finish and showcased the growth and depth of the program.
The Beavers continue on the road as they take on the Fighting Scots of Monmouth College in a non-conference matchup.
