Beavers Fall to the Golden Eagles
LOUISVILLE, KY– The Blackburn College Men’s Basketball team was in Louisville Kentucky to take on Spalding University on Thursday in St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference action. The Beavers fall 78-52.
LOUISVILLE, KY– The Blackburn College Men's Basketball team was in Louisville Kentucky to take on Spalding University on Thursday in St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference action. The Beavers fall 78-52.
The Beavers were lead by Junior Nick Cook with 13 points, 5 rebounds, and shot 75% from the line. Another key contributor was Junior Darius Duff with 12 points, 4 rebounds, and 5 assists.
In the first half, there was a fast break by Sophomore Odis Grissom that led to a 6 point stretch by the Beavers. Duff with the offensive rebound then out to Junior Tyson Johnson for the made three. 6 of the 14 points were three pointers by the Beavers late in the half. Cook sinks 2 free throws with 5 minutes to keep up with the Golden Eagles and ends the half with a layup to bring the score 23-43.
Coming out of the half, Sophomore Owen Walter comes off the bench with a good post move in the paint to score 2 points. Then a made fast break by Duff to keep the Beavers within range. Late in the game, Grissom scores two more with a smooth layup. The Golden Eagles take control and pull away in the second half to clench the victory over the Beavers.
The Beavers return to action this Saturday to take on Westminster College in more SLIAC action.
