Warm Weather Heats Up Blackburn's Bats
Beavers Put Up 27 Runs in Doubleheader
As the weather warmed up finally making it seem like baseball season, so did the bats of the Blackburn College baseball team. The Beavers defeated the Eureka College Red Devils by scores of 16-3 and 11-4.
In game one, the Beavers put the game out of reach by scoring seven runs in the top of the third inning. Every player in the starting lineup excluding one had at least one hit in the game. Donny Fuhrhop led the way by driving in four runs while Cody Flowers added two RBI of his own.
Jacob Baalman didn't allow a single earned run in eight innings for Blackburn. He struck out four while surrendering six hits and two walks.
The story was much of the same in the back half of the doubleheader. The Beavers knocked around seventeen hits in the game led by freshman Jared Jones who had a 4 for 4 day. Donny Fuhrhop again had an outstanding performance by collecting three hits and three more RBI. Jones, Jose Osorio, Luis Velez, and Aaron Moody each drove in two runs apiece.
Freshman Tim Hillis earned the win on the hill by working four innings and giving up one run on one hit and a base on balls.
Blackburn will finish up the season this weekend by hosting Westminster College on Saturday afternoon followed by a doubleheader against Millikin University on Sunday for Senior Day.
