CARLINVILLE, IL — Freshmen Addison Ruyle and Cooper Carter earned Blackburn Athlete of the Week honors.
Freshman Addison Ruyle powered the offense with an outstanding all-around week helped the Beavers to sweep Harris Stowe, batting .333 while delivering in every key moment with a perfect 4-for-4 in clutch opportunities. She racked up four hits, including two doubles and a home run, drove in seven runs, and scored five times to fuel the lineup. Adding three stolen bases and drawing a walk, Ruyle showcased both power and speed, making a major impact.
Freshman Cooper Carter delivered a flawless performance at the plate this week in their matchups, posting a .444 average while going a perfect 3-for-3 in key opportunities. He tallied four hits overall, including a double, drove in a run, and crossed the plate once, consistently sparking offense. With two walks and no strikeouts, Carter showed outstanding discipline and control, making him a reliable presence in the lineup.
Softball is competing today in a double header at Knox College and will be back at home for a conference matchup verse MUW. Baseball is away at Eureka College Friday and Saturday. Track & Field are competing at the SLIAC Championship both Friday and Saturday.
