Watkins, Zaidle Earn Athletes Of the Week Honors
CARLINVILLE, IL -- Freshmen Izaiah Watkins and Emma Zaidle were named this week's Blackburn College Athletes of the Week.
Watkins led men's cross country in Friday's meet that saw the team compete in the Bradley "Pink" Classic, hosted by Bradley University. In the team's largest meet of the season that saw them competing against runners from all levels of collegiate cross country, Watkins posted a new personal best of 31:47.48 in the 8k race. The time is nearly three minutes faster than his previous best.
Zaidle, from the women's soccer team, recorded nine saves in 135 minutes of action. The goalkeeper allowed just one goal through the week despite facing a total of 10 shots.
This week, the soccer teams visit Webster University Tuesday for St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference action. On Wednesday, volleyball heads to University of Health Sciences and Pharmacy for nonconference play.
On Friday, the men and women's soccer teams head south to take on Mississippi University for Women in more SLIAC action.
