Mark Hopping returns to coach the cross country teams for his seventh season at Blackburn College. Hopping has continued to run seriously for over 25 years. Hopping has qualified for the Boston Marathon eleven times and has ran in the event five times. In his lifetime, Hopping has ran over 50,000 miles.
A native of Bloomington, Illinois and a 1980 graduate of Illinois State University, Hopping worked for 29 years at Prairie Farms in Carlinville including the last ten years as vice president of risk management.
Hopping is married to Lori and they have three children, Katie (31), Laura (27) and David (24) and two grandchildren, Lola (3) and Collin (1). The Hoppings reside in Carlinville.
